Day 96

We made it back and it was actually a really easy, smooth, noneventful flight; just the way I like it :) I have to say it was such a strange sensation walking into my home last night. I felt sort of out of place. Being away for 16 days does that to a person. However, seeing my dogs, my husband and my own bed reminded me of what I did miss. This morning is a normal Saturday one with the girls up and Daddy out the door. But, I have Gianna here with me which is a special treat. Gabe and I even get to take her out to dinner just the 3 of us in DC tonight while the girls go and visit Gabe's parents. It was tough to leave my family. I always think it will get easier but it never does. Every time I go home it solidifies my desire to be there...all the time. It's a tough one for us. Virginia is a nice place to live (minus the stifling humidity/overwhelming snow) but it doesn't give me the same warm fuzzies as the apple orchards of Sebastopol, the redwoods in Occidental, the windy beach of Bodega Bay, the hills in Oakland, or the sound of the train in Martinez...It's not the same but it'll do....................for now ;)

Day 88

Go ahead and say it...I've been slacking on the blogging yet again. I think if I counted the number of posts that start that way I'd probably be ashamed. Here's the thing; I started this blog for my family. The family that is SO far away; I did it so that they could see my life, my kids and read about how I'm feeling/dealing with it all! But, now I'm with them...so blogging doesn't feel as important. Yes, I understand that people (Siobhan :) that are not part of my biological family of origin read this too, but I'm just explaining how I even came to blog and why the blogging bug isn't, well, bugging me right now.
Today is our first day at home without Gabe. He left late last night to go back east and so it's been just us girls; my Mom, Maddie, Gracie and myself. Pretty awesome to be part of the 3 generations that were all in the bed hanging out this afternoon. That's something you may not know about me but that holds true for the women in my family. We love our beds. We prefer to read, watch TV, snack, talk on the phone, text and search the web from our beds. It may sound strange to some but it's the place I most want to be. So, where could you find me, my Mom and Maddie around 3:45pm today? Nonnie's bed of course. I was knitting, my mom was helping me read a pattern, Maddie was drinking her milk and eating cookies: it was bliss. I did not have a moment to photograph it and it made me remember that sometimes memories are best kept in my head for only me to cherish. I'm grateful for that.

*I have oodles and oodles of pic's to share but Gabe took the laptop back home and so pic's may have to wait until I'm back...I'll see what I can work out :-)

Day 80, 81 & 82

So, we're on vacation in Northern California. It's beautiful and I think the best part is how much fun my girls are having with their cousins. They have 2 boy cousins on my side of the family and the 4 of them together are SO cute. So, here's a few pic's of what's been going on since the plane flight. I said to Gabe that I considered it a success because no one threw up and the paramedics didn't have to meet our plane (the way they did 6 months ago when we came home!).

We have a BBQ tonight and an early Father's Day celebration with Gabe, my Brother, my Step-father and my Grandpa. Cherry Cola Ribs are going to be the main dish and if you've never had them then you are missing out. Happy Saturday!!

Day 77

I want to say that I'm doing the best I can with trying to do a picture-a-day but sometimes it just gets away from me! Today we had a great playdate with our dear friends Siobhan, Aibha and Aisling. The girls decided that Zora needed some exercise! Here's how my morning looked :)

Day 75

I woke up with a neck that I cannot move :( That's such a not fun way to start your day! So, the girls and I are laying low today and waiting for the handymen to come by and finish a couple projects they started yesterday. Once they've finished, I will put up some pictures of what they did :-) I wanted to start packing today (if you know me, you know that I pack for our trips to CA way in advance!). I got the suitcases out and even started gathering Maddie's med's so as of right now I feel ahead of the game. There's a picture from the last day of school of Maddie and I that I just love. Here it is:

Day 73

Maddie finished her second year of pre-school today! Gabe, Gracie and I all attended her end of the year performance and we even caught a bit of that magic on video for you :)

**I have been sitting at this computer for quite a while trying to upload my video via YouTube, Facebook and even Vimeo but have had no luck. So, I give up....for the night. Will try in the am when I'm not so tired.
