"I'm going home...to the place where I belong..."

Did I just reference Daughtry? Ha ha. Anyways, I am going home, with the baby, in October and Gabe will be meeting us there too! Maddie is a bi-coastal baby, so why wouldn't she have bi-coastal first birthday parties? It's funny. I asked Gabe last night if whenever we have a second baby, will he/she get the same treatment (ie) 2 first birthday parties? He said, "probably not." And I responded that that was sad for that baby. Gabe and I are both first born children and I know from talking to both of our mom's that we were definitely spoiled in terms of attention. I know Maddie is this way too. I mean, she's the first baby girl grandchild on both sides-so that in itself makes her pretty special. I really want to commit right now that I will be the mom who tries to take just as many pic's of the next baby as I do of her. I know Lizzy (being the 3rd child) always feels she got the shaft in this department. But, guess what? Then you grow up and your older sister names her baby after you! :) Maddie and I will be in Northern CA for 10 days in October, and then Gabe will join us about 6 days into our trip to help celebrate her birthday out in Sebastopol. I'm already excited and it's still 2 months away :0
Today was busy. Maddie and I decided to go with Gabe's Mom, Sandy, to the mall to pick out some presents for Maddie's 2nd cousin, Grayson. She get's baptised tomorrow in Charlottesville and we're making the trek. Nevermind the fact that the forecast is 107 degrees with 100% humidity!!! Nightmare. We plan to stay inside A LOT. It's a bit of a drive, but it will be family time with just Gabe, Maddie and I on the drive and that will be fun. Plus, Maddie and Grayson are only a week apart in age, and it will be fun to watch how they are similar and different. I'll keep you posted tomorrow on how it all goes, unless I melt first!

Okay, so it doesn't matter how many years have passed - mother's guilt never ends! Elisabeth and Daniel: I am forever sorry that I didn't take you every single month of your first year of life to get your photos taken as I did Sarah. It wasn't/isn't that I didn't love you as much or that you weren't as precious, charming, cute, etc as she was it was JUST TOO MUCH TO DO ALONE!! Daniel wouldn't walk and Sarah wouldn't ride in a stroller by the time Elisabeth came along and I found it easier to stay home:) It's so cool - and so much different than your childhoods - to see Maddie visiting museums. What the heck did we do in Turlock???? Have a fun trip and take pictures of Grayson and Maddie. I can't tell you how excited that I am that you, Maddie and Gabe are coming home in two months. Daniel, any chance of talking you, Jen and the boys into joining the fun? I promise to take lots of pictures of all of you in equal amounts!! Lots of love, Mom/Nonni

I have been wondering all my life why I have felt so mistreated, now I know why, it was the lack of pictures growing up! What a revelation. So, I would love to say, YEAH!! We'll be there, but obviously my wife and I will have to figure it out. Plus you never posted the dates. Anyways, my fam and I are currently packing for a week vacation to San Diego, I'll make sure we visit some of your old stomping grounds, MCC, the beach, oh and yeah Hooters!!!

Mom, I wasn't trying to guilt you; I'm trying to say that Gabe and I think it will be that way, but I want to try to make it different. It probably depends on how far apart these babies are! Laura, I'd love to meet Jason and have you meet Gabe and Maddie, so we'll coordinate when I'm home. Dan, have fun in SD and thanks in advance for visiting my old haunts! You guys will have a blast. And, of course, I understand if you cannot be at Maddie's b-day. I wanted to invite you anyways. Love you all.

I guess having a namesake makes up for the lack of pics. I think it's natural to be most excited about the first child, it's a new thing. By the time number three comes around her or his first spit-up is not as thrilling. Of course I am just guessing. Love to all. Sorry it took me so long to post, this youngest child is a busy bee. Love to all.
